HÀ NỘI — The Indian Embassy in Hà Nội on Tuesday co-ordinated with the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications to host a webinar on information and communications technology (ICT) co-operation between India and Việt Nam during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyễn Huy Dũng said this was an important and timely event as the pandemic continues to develop complicatedly, causing severe recessions for many countries.

Dũng expressed his belief that the two countries will have many ideas and experiences to share, exchange with each other in ICT, giving both exerting great efforts in ICT development and application.

He told participants that in its National Digital Transformation Strategy, Việt Nam is aiming to raise the share of the digital economy in national GDP to 20 per cent by 2025 and about 30 per cent by 2030.

Indian Ambassador Pranay Verma said that ICT will play an important role in post-pandemic economic recovery for both countries.

Both India and Việt Nam have very ambitious visions in developing the ICT sector, especially during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Therefore, this is the right time for them to seek more opportunities to raise ICT capacity for deeper cooperation, he added.

At the webinar, Indian and Vietnamese experts shared opinions, advantages and opportunities of the two nations in this field. Digital transformation in Việt Nam and technology solutions on the COVID-19 fight, cyber security and 5G technology drew their special attention. — VNS
