HÀ NỘI  The Party Central Inspection Committee yesterday proposed disciplinary actions be taken against two Party members for violations of State regulations regarding banking credit and land management.

At a meeting in Hà Nội yesterday, the committee called for Nguyễn Văn Bình, Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Economic Affairs, to be disciplined for his violations during his tenure as governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.

Bình had violated regulations on the issuance and implementation of a number of resolutions, regulations and decisions on banking credit, causing serious and irrecoverable consequences to the State, the State Bank and the people, with many officials of the State Bank facing criminal punishments, it said.

The committee also proposed Party member Hồ Thị Kim Thoa be expelled from the Party for land use violations that occurred while she was Deputy Prime Minister of Industry and Trade. The case also involved then Minister Vũ Huy Hoàng who should also be expelled but discipline measures have not been considered for him due to his critical illness.

The violations concerned the management of a "golden" plot of land on Hai Bà Trưng Street in District 1, HCM City. VNS
